16th May 2024

Dear Live Music Fan,

COMING UP

FRIDAY 10th MAY

FRIDAY 17th MAY

FREE’S CO
(A tribute to Free and Bad Company)

On 17th May we will see the long awaited return of Free’s Company and this time we are rolling in the big PA system we usually use on a Friday whereas before they had brought their own set-up which really did not do them justice.

However, sadly, this will be the last ever show by this band as they have decided to call it a day.

As it says on the web site: -

Free’s Company - the UK’s definitive Free and Bad Company tribute band.

The band are establishing themselves as a regular headline touring act around the country and further afield, building a reputation for providing an energised and professional show.

The band members are all experienced musicians having toured the world and performed at a variety of renowned venues. The bands attention to detail ensures that crowds are treated to the music of two of the best blues/rock bands of all time fronted by the amazing Paul ‘The Voice’ Rodgers. The show is a non-stop feast of all the best known songs including All Right Now, Wishing Well, Shooting Star, Rock and Roll Fantasy, Mr Big, I feel like making love, Can’t get enough, The Hunter and many more. Having met the legendary ex-Free bassist Andy Fraser in person, the band have received encouragement by both him and his management company.

If you get to see one band live this year - make sure it’s Free’s Company.

LOOKING FURTHER AHEAD

FRIDAY 24th MAY

THE STRANGE DOORS
(A tribute to The Doors)

Another band taking a bow with us for the final time will be The Strange Doors as they have decided this will be their last ever show.

As it says on the web site: -

The Strange Doors is a Doors tribute band that takes you back in time by recreating the sights and sounds of the legends you know and love. This band doesn’t just replicate the studio versions of Doors classics; we actually recreate the live Doors experience. Here you will find ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), jazzy organ solos, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals. Like a gig by the real Doors, and unlike other Doors tribute bands, a Strange Doors gig has an air of unpredictability... audiences are kept guessing what to expect next. The singer is completely spontaneous and the band always follow him, taking the audience to places unknown. No version of "The End" is ever played the same way twice. The atmosphere is charged with the darkness and feeling of menace that only Doors music can provide.

The Strange Doors will take you on a journey into the severed garden... fires will be lit and lizards will be celebrated...

Experience the music of The Doors played live and accurately for your entertainment. With The Strange Doors audiences aren't just getting a Doors Tribute band; they are getting the ultimate Doors experience. From great costumes to authentic sounding instruments, Doors fans can relive the psychedelic sixties and step back in time with a Doors Tribute band that looks as good as it sounds.

Book now at https://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook or your usual web links, you will not get another chance to see this exceptional show. There may be tears at the end.

AND

Ian will still be on holiday for this Friday and Sam is not available so I will be on the door on my own, which means anything could, and probably will, go wrong.

LOOKING BACK

STANLEY DEE

The usual fun, polished, performance from this band who do not take themselves too seriously but they do take the music to heart and perform it with some aplomb. Everyone who came enjoyed themselves I am sure.

Those that stayed right until the end were treated to a rare sight, me getting up on the stage not only to back-announce the band but to tell the assembled massed that if they got away from the lights of the building and pointed their phone camera at the sky they might well get a look at The Northern Lights

All in all it was quite a night and as somebody who has been to Iceland and Norway and never saw so much as a glimmer I feel I was blessed to see such a rare sight in my own backyard so to speak.

I think that is all see you soon.

Regards

Philip
